What Kind of Badlands Explorer Are You?

Official Contest Rules

Effective October 15, 2026. Last updated October 1, 2026.

These are the official rules for the What Kind of Badlands Explorer Are You? contest (the "Contest"). By entering, you agree to these rules.

1. Sponsor

The Contest is run by Travel Drumheller, operating canadasbadlands.com (the "Sponsor"). The Contest is administered on the Sponsor's behalf by Tourismo.

2. Contest period

The Contest opens October 15, 2026 at 12:00 a.m. Mountain Time and closes December 13, 2026 at 11:59 p.m. Mountain Time (the "Contest Period"). Entries submitted after the closing time are not eligible.

3. Who can enter

The Contest is open to residents of Canada, excluding the Province of Quebec, who have reached the age of majority in their province or territory of residence at the time of entry. No purchase is necessary to enter or win. Void where prohibited by law.

Employees, officers and representatives of the Sponsor, Tourismo and any business supplying a prize, and the members of their immediate families and households, are not eligible.

4. How to enter

  1. Take the explorer quiz at canadasbadlands.com/explorer-quiz. Based on your answers, you will be given one of four explorer types: Unhurried Journeys, Little Explorers, Unearth Adventure or Dig In.
  2. Complete the entry form shown with your result, with your first and last name, email address, postal code and when you plan to visit.

Your completed entry form is your entry into the prize draw for the explorer type shown on that form. By submitting an entry, you consent to receive marketing and promotional emails from Travel Drumheller, as described in Section 10.

Limit one (1) entry per person and per email address for the entire Contest Period. Retaking the quiz does not give you additional entries. If more than one entry is received from the same person or email address, only the first eligible entry will count. Entries made using automated means, or using multiple or false identities, will be disqualified.

5. Prizes

There are four (4) prizes available, one for each explorer type. Each prize is a Canada's Badlands prize pack with an approximate retail value of $500 CAD:

Travel to and from the Canada's Badlands region is not included unless stated. Prizes must be accepted as awarded and are not transferable or exchangeable for cash. Any part of a prize not used by its expiry date is forfeited. Prize experiences are subject to the terms, availability and expiry dates of the businesses supplying them. The Sponsor may substitute a prize, or part of a prize, of equal or greater value if a prize cannot be awarded as described. Limit one (1) prize per person and per household.

6. Odds of winning

The odds of winning a prize depend on the number of eligible entries received for each explorer type during the Contest Period.

7. Winner selection and notification

On December 15, 2026, one (1) winner will be drawn at random from all eligible entries for each explorer type, for a total of four (4) winners. Before being confirmed as a winner, each selected entrant must correctly answer, without assistance, a mathematical skill testing question.

Selected entrants will be contacted by email on or about December 15, 2026 and must respond within five (5) days of the notification email. If a selected entrant does not respond in time, does not correctly answer the skill testing question, cannot be reached, declines the prize or does not meet these rules, the Sponsor may draw another eligible entry for that explorer type.

8. Winner declaration and release

Before receiving a prize, each winner must sign a declaration and release confirming that they meet these rules, accept the prize as awarded, and release the Sponsor, Tourismo and the businesses supplying prizes from liability relating to the Contest and the prize. Prizes will be delivered or arranged by January 15, 2027.

9. Publicity

By accepting a prize, each winner agrees that the Sponsor may announce their first name, home city or town and explorer type on canadasbadlands.com, in emails and on social media, without further compensation.

10. Privacy and emails

Information collected through the entry forms is used to run the Contest, contact winners and send marketing communications. By submitting an entry, you consent to receive marketing and promotional emails from Travel Drumheller, including Canada's Badlands travel ideas, offers, contests and event news, which may be based on your explorer type. You can withdraw your consent and unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email, and doing so will not affect your entry. Personal information is handled in line with the Sponsor's privacy policy, and all commercial emails follow Canada's anti spam legislation, including sender identification and an unsubscribe option.

11. General conditions

  • The Sponsor may disqualify any entry or entrant that does not comply with these rules.
  • The Sponsor is not responsible for entries that are lost, late, incomplete or not received because of technical problems.
  • The Sponsor may cancel, suspend or change the Contest if it cannot run as planned for reasons outside its control, subject to any required approval.
  • The Sponsor's decisions on all matters relating to the Contest are final.
